VERTEBRATES AND INVERTEBRATES

Invertebrates are animal species that do not possess or develop a vertebral column, derived from the notochord. Familiar examples of invertebrates include insectsworms,clamscrabsoctopusessnails, and starfish.














Vertebrates are animalsthat are members of the subphyla.Vertebrates include the overwhelming majority of the phylumChordata, with currently about 64,000species described.Vertebrates include the jawless fish and the jawed vertebrates, which includes thecartilaginous fish (sharks and rays) and the bony fish.
